Celebrating Robert Bateman
April 23, 1:00pm, Mahon Hall
Did you know that the cheerful Black-capped Chickadee was the animal that started Robert Bateman on his lifelong interest and pursuit of natural history and birding? Learn about Bateman’s career and interests at the Robert Bateman Exhibit in Mahon Hall, this April. The exhibit is a tribute to Bateman – his enchantment with nature and his dedication to sharing his insights into the wonders of nature through art, writing and teaching. The exhibit, starting April 11, runs for three weeks and will feature some of his lesser known art works as well as insights into his relationship with the natural world.
Nature Salt Spring is excited to contribute to this celebration on April 23, 1:00 pm with a program developed in cooperation with Salt Spring Elementary. Accompanied by recordings from Salt Spring's own bird song recording specialist, John Neville, Salt Spring Elementary students will reveal the joys and inspiration of bird movement and behaviour through dance, drama and sketching – a tribute to the Bateman way of knowing nature!
