Special NSS Presentation - March 6, 7 pm - Lion’s Hall
Tribute to Greenland
photographed and presented by Pat and Rosemarie Keough
This special presentation is an opportunity to learn about the spectacular geography, climate, and people of Greenland from two of Canada’s most celebrated Explorer/Photographers - Pat and Rosemarie Keough. The event is a fundraiser for NSS - suggested donation $10.
Pat and Rosemarie Keough are excited to share their enthusiasm for Greenland – a timely topic given current geo-political ripples. Their presentation "A Tribute to Greenland" will include the people and their culture, a brief historical context, and an overview of this ice-shrouded land encompassing nature, fiords, glaciers and icebergs. They will include observations and discussions of contemporary climate change issues. With six Greenland expeditions under their belts since 2010, Pat and Rosemarie have much to share about this amazing landscape and its remarkable people and nature.
Rosemarie and Pat have experienced the world as professional photographers and book publishers for 40 years. This work has taken them to the Arctic and Antarctica, and many, many points between. They are especially renowned for two hand-bound, full leather tomes: ANTARCTICA and LABYRINTH SUBLIME: THE INSIDE PASSAGE – both recognized and coveted around the world.
The Keoughs are both Medalists and Fellows of The Explorers Club; Medalists of Britain’s Royal Geographical Society; Fellows of Royal Canadian Geographical Society; and recipients of Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals. Articles about this dynamic duo have been published by Time, Forbes, The Economist, Smithsonian and many other periodicals.
Don’t miss this stunningly-photographed presentation at the Lions Hall, on Thursday, March 6 at 7:00 pm. Admission by donation – $10 suggested.
